A fish climbing a tree is an image you can’t unsee. It doesn’t make sense yet the fish finds a way or makes a way.
Growing up, I was incentivized to read books through the Summer Readers program. You read books and get prizes. I swear my mom created this program herself because she advocates for education. It turns out all the kids had to, as well. Misery loves company.
Over the years, I’ve found that books are a secret portal to time travel. Books can comfort, inspire, and inform us about all aspects of our lives from previous decades and can even speculate about what the future will be like. I read 16 books in 2023. The 8-year-old me doesn’t recognize the man I am today. I am my childhood book-reading hero! One book that has had a profound impact on my perspective is The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. It’s a powerful guide on overcoming barriers to growth and achieving your true potential.
I grew so much in that year with a new perspective that as I reflected on my own life, I had a story to share and found a missing resource in the world. We praise someone who makes millions a year because they have something we might lack. Yet we don’t hear the same person shouting they have felt unwavering peace, joy, and purpose.
A few months ago, I felt called to start writing a book. It intends to encompass all the ways to remove doubt, transform your mindset, and experience joy in yourself and the world around you as your net worth grows.
Everyone wants to be a millionaire, but the outcome is a false summit. You’ll feel the exact same way you did 20 minutes after you achieved your goal as you did months before. Often, how you build your empire isn’t based on what you truly want, and it inhibits you from living your ideal life even with the income.
I’m outlining a guide to uncovering what you want. It’s a book focused on changing lives by at least one degree. For every degree a plane or a ship veers off its original course, it can drastically change the end destination. This book has references from over 40 books on mindset, joy, habits, peace, accountability, generosity, integrity, and investing.
What is writing a book for me? It’s a way to slow my life down.
To be intentional with my thoughts and the words I select. In all situations.
To heal the wounds I have endured or created myself.
To grow in areas I was unaware I could or desire to grow.
It’s an affirmation of my confidence in my writing abilities.
Some words are not said because I hold onto peace and share only when it’s best.
The idea of writing a book has so much gratitude in it. How exciting is this? Yet it’s terrifying. Imposter syndrome frequently sets in the words that are written.
“Have hope that it can happen and faith that it will happen.”
I can’t undo the man I am becoming as I grow with this knowledge.
Today, I started my career as a magician. Magicians do magic while uttering the word “Abracadabra,” which loosely translates to: with these words, I create.
So here’s to writing a bunch of words that will one day be bound with paper and written in ink.
“All discomfort you seek will create growth.”
