Why do successful owners still feel isolated, even surrounded by people all day?

Being busy and being known are different things. Most owners at scale have plenty of the first and very little of the second.

Employees, customers, and vendors all need something from the owner, which means most of an owner's daily interactions are transactional by nature, not the kind of relationship where someone actually understands what you're carrying.

Peers who once understood the pressure, other owners at an earlier stage, often fall away as the business grows, not from any falling out, but simply because the day-to-day reality diverges too far to relate to anymore.

The result is a specific kind of isolation: surrounded by people, understood by almost none of them, in a position where admitting uncertainty out loud can feel like a risk rather than a relief.
