PROACTIVE TAX STRATEGY

Which business entity structure actually reduces your tax bill?

There's no single best structure. The right one depends on your income level, how you take money out of the business, and what your exit eventually looks like.

An S-Corp election can reduce self-employment tax exposure for many owner-operators by allowing a portion of income to be taken as distributions rather than wages, though it comes with its own compliance requirements around reasonable compensation.

Owners running multiple ventures or holding real estate alongside an operating business often benefit from separating those activities into distinct entities, both for liability protection and for more precise tax treatment of each income stream.

The structure that saved you money five years ago isn't necessarily the right one today. Revenue growth, new lines of business, and an approaching sale can all change which structure actually serves you best, which is why this deserves a periodic review, not a one-time decision.
