And still, after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, "You owe Me." Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky. — Hafiz

I used to be obsessed with external wins and transactional with relationships. My stress was high and my worry was my identity. I felt broken. I wanted to disassociate or distract. By who I was, who I was around and where I was going. I was sort of letting life happen, but not in alignment. In passivity.

There is so much brokenness along the way that we can become so fixated on our goal that we lose ourselves in the process, wondering why on earth people are not staying around us. Simply put, they do not enjoy being around us because we are not enjoying ourselves. We are not coming from a place of joy fueled with authenticity and love.

People are not walking resumes. The biggest mistake I see high achievers make with people is reducing them to what they can offer. What is their net worth? What is their title? What can they do for me? Who do they know?

When you go into people and see what they desire to be, when you learn how they can help you and how you can help them with their goals and purpose, something shifts. The relationship stops being a transaction and starts being a partnership...

"I've built my whole network on what people could do for me. This chapter made me uncomfortable in the right way."
